 2016 Symphony Summer Camp

Symphony in C's Symphony Summer Camp is a two-week intensive training program that takes place at Rutgers University-Camden for musicians ages 10-20 in middle school and high school. The staff creates high expectations for the students and at the same time remains committed to maintaining an atmosphere of fun, excitement, and musical exploration. The Symphony’s teaching artists and musicians provide lessons, music theory and history, improvisation classes, sectional coachings, and large ensemble rehearsals.

This year's elective courses are as follows:
Conducting (limited to 5 students)
Sound Engineering and Recording (limited to 10 students)
Musical Styles and Creative Listening

Camp Dates:
August 1-5 
August 8-12 (8:30am-12:30pm)
Concert: Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 2:00pm

Tuition: $350 ($100 non-refundable deposit due at time of registration, balance due no later than August 1st, first day of camp) 

All Summer Camp activities will take place at The Gordon Theater and Fine Arts Building at the Rutgers Camden Campus located on 3rd Street between Cooper and Pearl Streets

Students ages 10-20 please join Paul Bryan, Dean of Faculty and Students at The Curtis Institute of Music and Youth Orchestra Artistic Advisor; Kenneth Bean, Youth Orchestra Conductor; and Symphony in C’s musicians for the 2nd season of Symphony in C’s Side-by-Side Youth Orchestra.

Stilian Kirov
as Music Director
Stilian Kirov, Music Director Designate


Symphony in C is pleased to announce the appointment of Stilian Kirov as its next Music Director. The 31-year-old Bulgarian born conductor will begin his position on July 1st. for the 2015-2016 season. 

Stilian Kirov is currently the Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony, and has been described as "A rising star in the conducting world," -Tom Keogh, Seattle Times.  Mr. Kirov has also served as Associate Conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Memphis Youth Symphony Program.
